Comments from the webinar

  • Inspirational and thought provoking webinar.
  • I knew the book would be great but was really good to hear about it from Andrea and Louise.
  • The host was lovely and passionate and the opportunity to hear from the author herself felt empowering.
  • Very energising and uplifting!
  • Again I was inspired by Louises commitment to children and young people who can so easily be misunderstood and let down in an educational setting. I intend to purchase the new book as well as a couple of others that were mentioned regarding transitions and teenagers and attachment. Thank you Louise for all you do. Keep up the fantastic work.
  • Inspiring!
  • I wish we’d had more time
  • Just wanted to give my thanks to Louise and Andrea for an hour of inspiring and passionate discussion about how we can support all children as well as those who already have a history of early life trauma at this time. It was an hour of calm between child protection zoom meetings, planning and risk assessing for school to re-open! A timely reminder of what we all hold dear for the children in our care as well as for the staff we work with.
  • I have read many of Louise's books and watched a number of webinars over the last few weeks. I am inspired by her knowledge and practical application of strategies. This is so pertinent at this current time and has really helped to plan next steps and move forward with our whole school approach.
  • It was so good to feel part of a community of people with a common vision, or mission!
  • I really enjoyed listening to someone who is experienced and practiced in the real and sometimes rough realities TA's are often faced with- not speaking or writing simply from theory. It was really quite refreshing. Thank you.
  • I loved it! But I would have loved it even more if it had been longer. It stimulated so much discussion and thought and I felt there wasn't enough time to do it all justice. I bought the book from Worth Publishing straight after the webinar.
  • I was inspired by Louises passion and her words Just sat with me so Much more than reading them !I have her book in order from Worth which I would not have bought without attending the webinar which was wonderfully run and so relaxed it was as if we were all together
  • Good to hear Louise’s thinking around the latest neuroscience and discipline in schools.
  • Really informative and Louise so inspiring as always. Such a good reminder whilst being in this unusual time.
  • Loved your enthusiasm when talking in depth about how we can see our children in a different way
  • I found it really refreshing and inspiring to hear of all the work that is so important for all children and young people in all schools and to have that confirmed once again through the work and research Louise has carried out. Louise's points were really clear and well articulated, as were yours Andrea. The big challenge is how to deconstruct school systems that are sanction driven that don't work and to reverse the culture of exclusion. Huge schools are like factory farms for pupils and just don't have the personalisation, containment and financial capacity to provide a holistic, integrated approach. The webinar was underlined further the need for longterm investment and restructuring of the school system so that it is not toxic and brutalising. I would be interested in any work/research that is going on around schools not using Team Teach or R.P.I to 'manage' behaviour. That is also an area that needs further development, particular in SEMH settings.
  • I really enjoyed the webinar and what was really lovely was the celebration with the three of you at the end! I had a wee tear! Wishing you all every success with the book and I cant wait for mine to arrive!
  • I found it very interesting to hear how Louise viewed the impact of Covid-19 and how this very relevant issue was incorporated into the webinar!
  • Facilitation was great - warm, well structured & kept to time, which I like! & always inspiring & exciting to listen to Louise - thank you.
  • accessible. well managed. profound but also enjoyable!
  • I felt lucky to be there. It was so heartwarming.
  • I found this helpful especially as we are beginning to play ahead for our children coming back in August. Took away a raised awareness of how important making positive connections will be, projecting A calm and happy atmosphere.
  • Some very useful tips were shared - thank you
  • Very wise words to remind us a that differentiation isn’t just about the curriculum.
  • Thank you for a very interesting webinar!
  • It was lovely to listen to someone speaking so passionately and honestly about young people.
  • It was so lovely to feel as though I was touching base with the community and to celebrate Louise's synthesis of all the research and knowledge.
  • Keep bringing out fantastic books Louise.
  • I had not attended a book launch before either in a book shop or online! This experience and opportunity helped me feel connected to the work I do through the diversity of attendees and seeing others with a shared passion for this work and further learning. It is also great to understand more about the independent publishers and the authors from attending an event like this. Thank you!
  • The Book Launch/Webinar was inspirational. Louise spoke with passion and wisdom and it was a great event. Thank you for ensuring so many people could benefit from this.
  • Thank you! Really hope you do go ahead with another webinar in a month, once we've all read the book. I love the idea of a book group.
  • Thank you!
  • Thanks so much for organising the webinar, it was amazing and will impact upon my future practice.
  • Loved webinar. Yes please to another.

  • Many thanks to your organisation and Louise for continuing to support and inspire me in my work in schools.
  • Thanks for all you do :-)
  • Thank you again for the webinar and also introducing me to Worth publishing Maybe in the future Amazon won’t be my immediate go to
  • Thank you and can't wait for my book to arrive.
  • Thank you for the opportunity to be part of that rich experience.
  • Love the virtual book launch. Watched with a glass of Prosecco!
  • Thank you so much for the webinar it was enjoyable and informative
  • Thank you for hosting and publishing such a brilliant resource
  • Louise is a great author and praciticioner., thanks for the invite :)
  • Louise has written the book that needed to be written! She has synthesised everything that I have been reading and watching.( I have Van der Kolk, Maté, Perry etc. ) It's all there in one book. Amazing! I've been teaching for many years and I'm excited that neuroscience is proving what I've always felt to be true. I loved when Louise said that too! Thank you.
  • Looking forward to using the book and to seeing if our local school take any guidance from it
  • I bought the book after the launch. I'm really looking forward to implementing in my work with schools.
  • Loving the book so far!
  • Thanks
  • Thank you

This is a unique opportunity to spend time with Dr Heather Geddes who has spent her working life enabling children and young people settle to learn, especially those whose attachment difficulties and experience of extremely difficult early lives first moved her to focus on their predicament and challenges. B.A.S.E.® Babywatching programme creates unique experiences for whole classes, whilst also embracing and supporting the journey of each unique pupil. This deceptively simple programme creates conscious and subconscious links for individual children and groups, because the atmosphere it creates that has a huge impact. Children (and adults) are engaged and drawn in by the process: it provides opportunities for sustained shared watching, talking. listening, and critical thinking; and it provides focus on the development of relationships through attunement and empathy. In gentle, unobtrusive ways, the B.A.S.E.® Babywatching programme enhances pupils and community experience and capacity in a lasting manner.

This webinar will explore our relationship with nature, through the eyes of some who have promoted and explored the benefits in different ways over time, with children, young people and adults, what they have been given as well as given back: alongside an opportunity for all of us to share what we have experienced personally, loved and appreciated, through Covid..And what happens when our own empathy gets blocked? How can we free ourselves up again to empathise with our pupils and clients, carers and parents, our colleagues, our community and ourselves?
